It is extremely important for us to make sure that the future mother and the whole family is heard, supported and helped through out the whole pregnancy. Our department is cozy; you can almost feel like home, but at the same time all the latest technology is also available if needed. In Tammisaari the family can choose individually either a more natural or a more technological way of giving birth. Either way you choose, you can be assured that you are in professional hands; caring, safety, and if necessary, also cesarean section and pediatric care are available 24 h a day. Anesthesiologists, gynecologists and pediatrists are always ready to help you. You will also be assigned your own midwife, who will help you through your labor together with your own "supporters".
Pain relief and other important facts
We offer a wide variety of pain relief methods from non-drug methods such as zone therapy and acupuncture to epidural and other forms of local anesthesia. You can freely combine different methods. Every delivery room has also a tub . It is also possible to give birth in water. Routine operations such as episiotomy are not made. All operations that are not in line with the natural flow of labor are made only if it is necessary due to a medical reason. The parents are always informed about these processes.
You can choose your birthing position freely. Upright positions are encouraged. Birth stool has proven to be the most popular one in the pushing phase. After the birth, your own midwife will go over the labor once again, and explain all the details and answer any questions you might have. In our special "labor fear clinic" we offer help and support to expectant mothers who have fears related to the labor.
